Daniel Burroughs
STUDENT DEFENDS WOLVES

I would like to share a letter from a young student that has become involved with the need to help save our friends, the Wolf People. His letters have inspired me greatly and I would like to let others know of his efforts and dedication.

Due to such efforts and strong willingness to fight for wolves Daniel will be through his efforts alone, the sponsor of Dakota.

Dakota is one of the latest additions to our family. We will be posting pictures of Dakota on this special page to keep Daniel posted, along with special emails to him along with specials pictures that he will be able to include in reports and presentations.

Daniel, WE Thank you for your support and your enthusiasm.

Dear Windwalker,
I have been reading your article "Defend the
Wolves" and I would be glad to help. Although
I am only in 8th grade, I feel it is my duty to
see wolves back in the wild and off the endangered
species list. It would be my greatest honor to
adopt a wolf, however, I live in Maryland and I
fear if I adopt a wolf the results would be
fatal due to severe heat. E-mail me back and let me
know if there is anything I can do to help.

Sincerely
Yours,
Daniel
Burroughs

P.S. I am writing you this letter because
I love wolves and I don't want
them to become extinct.

A Letter To Daniel
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for your wonderful letter. In our adoption program as with most wild animal adoption programs, the animals do not actually leave our compound.People select a specific wolf to help support. We make sure that any help that they give goes specifically for the security of that wolf.
We also send them periodical pictures of the wolf
they have chosen to help. They are also invited to come and visit the wolf along with our other wolf family. (Right now there are 11 here all together) Very rarely do we transfer a wolf to another compound.
Since you are in the 8th grade we will be happy to help you to adopt one of our wolves in another way. You probably do not have a job, and if you do,you should be using your earnings to learn to manage your money for the times tocome.
For starters, here is an idea...You have an opportunity t p resent a number of written reports that may in fact be readbefore your class mates over the remaining time of your high school career. If you would consider helping us to educate your
fellow classmates on the true Nature of the
wolf, we would be most grateful. I will even send you information on wolves to helpyou to provide them with accurate information.

Remember this. The protection of our wildlife,
and our world in general is a very political movement. Political because we face opposition from large interest groups that are only concerned in many cases with profit. They often have no concern that what we do will effect at least the next seven generations that follow us. For good or bad the effect will be there. If we make good changes, then good things will be passed down. If we make bad changes then bad things will be passed down.

The next thing that you can do is this. In a
few years, you will graduate high school then college. You will then start on a journey
that will bring both joy and adventure. When
you start your adventure, you may become a doctor, a lawyer, or perhaps even president of the united States of America. What ever you do, remember the creatures of the earth. Once they are gone, we can never bring them back. They are more important to us than most of us even dream.
They help to make us special. And some
day, if you become President, or a congressman.
An attorney or perhaps a senator of your state. Maybe governor or perhaps a news paper editor, you will be able to use yourvoice to convince others to help the wolves and other creatures of the earth to survive.

We would also be grateful if you would spread
the word of our web site to as many people as possible. The more who know what we are trying
to do, the better.
You can encourage your fellow classmates to write letters to your congressmen, senators and others. Asking them to help stop the hunting of wolves in Alaska. Ask them to protect all of our public lands(National Forests and Parks) and make them complete
havens for our wildlife. Ask them to help us find better ways to insure that in 100 years from now. there will still be wolves roaming our beautiful country. Let them know that theland that they are responsible for, is yoursto inherit. Your generation will one day bethe leaders of this government. Let those whoare in control today know that you want to findit in better condition than they found it in. You can also write to large companies and ask them to make sure that when they expand, they also consider the damage done to the earth not just the profits. Let them know that they have a responsibility to you and the generations that follow you to see to it that the wild creatures survive and that these generations
following them have the right to pure water and clean air. Let them know that their success depends highly on you. If you do not support their products in years to come, they will not succeed. And last but NOT least. Never forget that the future is in the hands of your generation. Letyour heart and efforts be strong. We only haveone earth. If we destroy it, we have no placeelse to go. You have a right to live in a healthy world, and a responsibility to those who will follow you to see to it that they can also do the same.

I know this sounds like a lot to for the privilege of sharing in the life of a wolf. But I do not expect you to do it all. Only what you can. I ask no more than that.

Sincerely,
Jim Windwalker
